ALTUNA History

1921

Foundation

Altuna Hermanos SA was born in Oñati. Since then. Altuna is manufacturing all its tools in the same location. The factory is self-sufficient thanks to the electricity produced by a hydraulic generator taking advantage of the water power of the Oñati River, which flows down from the Aizkorri Natural Park.

1942

Auste Estana

The trademark “Auste Estana” is created, which in Basque (regional language) means unbreakable.

1960

Internalization

The company starts its export activity in Latin America, receiving an award for its quality and for being pioneers in this activity.

1970

Marque Altuna

All the loppers, pruners and tin snips begin to be manufactured under ALTUNA brand.

1978

Bikain brand

The Bikain brand is created for the conception, manufacture and marketing of garden tools and accessories.

1983

Modernization

Floods ravage the entire region, virtually disabling the entire factory. With the inestimable help of the workers, the factory goes ahead and modernizes the machinery and facilities.

1999

Dicoal is born

ltuna creates a new division called Dicoal, which is dedicated to the conception, manufacture and distribution of products oriented to the field of hardware, bricolage and the agricultural sector in the Iberian Peninsula (Spain and Portugal).

2002

Carbon fiber

The range of carbon fiber (“Carbon Fiber”) is introduced, with Altuna being the first and only manufacturer to date to produce and develop a range of tools of this material, with maximum lightness, balance and performance.

2004

"ROTARY" range

Altuna develops the “Rotary” range, which reduces the effort required when cutting up to 40% with a great success in the market.

2008

New wharehouse

The new warehouse / logistics platform is inaugurated with the latest technology in radio frequency and voice picking.

2015

ISO 9001

Altuna is certified in the ISO 9001/2015 standard.

2021

Centenary

In 2021 we will celebrate 100 years
